Though born in the Pacific Northwest, David grew up along the eastern seaboard experiencing the itinerant childhood typical of military families.  His adult life has proved no less circuitous,  as his collegiate studies included such diverse subjects as history, poetry, mathematics, engineering, and statistics, and he has pursued occupations as an analyst, college instructor, poet, writer, and politician.

Like Miniver Cheevy, David was perhaps born a century or so too late and considers that he would have made a fine dilettante gentleman scholar ambling about his study on a small landholding, had only he been born into minor Old World nobility.

Today, he lives and works on the western shore of Lake Michigan, along with the many voices in his head telling him what stories to write next.
